Auralynx ("we," "us," or "our") provides a safety check-in application ("the App") that helps users share their status and location with trusted contacts during walks, commutes, and other activities. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Auralynx, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
- Name
- Email address
- Password (encrypted; we never see or store it in plain text)
Emergency and trusted contact information
- Names and phone numbers of contacts you choose to add for check-ins and emergency alerts
Location information
- Precise (GPS) location, collected only while an active check-in is running and shared only with the contacts you select for that check-in
User content
- Custom messages you write for check-ins or emergency alerts
Purchase and subscription information
- Subscription plan and status (e.g. Free, Student, Standard)
- Payment processing itself is handled entirely by PayFast. Auralynx does not collect or store your card number, bank details, or other payment credentials.
Usage, diagnostic, and device information
- App interactions and feature usage (via Firebase Analytics)
- Crash reports and performance data (via Firebase Crashlytics)
- Device identifiers and advertising data (via Google AdMob, for showing ads)
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide core app functionality — running check-ins, sending alerts, and sharing your status/location with contacts you choose
- To manage your account and subscription
- To send reminders and notifications related to active check-ins
- To maintain and improve app performance and fix bugs
- To display advertising, and measure ad performance, through Google AdMob
- To comply with legal obligations where required
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

4. Advertising and Tracking
Auralynx uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and approximate location to show relevant ads and measure their performance. On iOS, we request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before any tracking-related data is used for advertising purposes. You can decline this at any time, and the App will continue to function normally — you will simply see less personalized ads.
You can reset or limit ad tracking at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
5. Data Retention
We retain account and check-in data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- You can review and update your account information at any time within the App
- You can delete individual trusted contacts or your entire account
- You can turn off location sharing for any specific check-in
- You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us (see below)
If you are located in South Africa, these rights are provided in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may also have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children's Privacy
Auralynx is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised policy.
